DIA flights delayed after problem with American Airlines flight to Miami

Hundreds of flights at Denver International Airport are delayed after an unspecified problem with an American Airlines flight headed for Miami, officials said.

Denver Fire Department officials confirmed crews responded to an issue on the runway with an American Airlines flight headed for Miami International Airport and everyone on board was off the airplane.

The Federal Aviation Administration put the airport on a traffic management program because of an unspecified emergency Saturday afternoon, but the alert was lifted shortly after 3:30 p.m.

Airport officials, the FAA and American Airlines could not immediately be reached for comment.

There were 390 flight delays and 12 canceled flights as of 3:40 p.m., according to the flight tracking website FlightAware.
