Authorities in Arapahoe County are searching for a 56-year-old man who escaped from the Department of Corrections.
Sean Hanneman is wanted for a parole violation and escape and is known to carry large knives, the sheriff’s office said on X.
Deputies are currently searching the area between E. Arapahoe and E. Dry Creek roads and S. University and S. Colorado boulevards. Nearby Sandburg Elementary School has been placed on secure perimeter.
Authorities used a reverse 911 to warn residents in the area to shelter in place.
Anyone who sees Hanneman is urged to call 911 immediately.
