Rockies reinstate Brendan Rodgers from 60-day injured list, clearing way for second baseman’s 2023 debut
B-Rod is back.
The Rockies reinstated Brendan Rodgers from the 60-day injured list on Monday, clearing the way for the second baseman’s 2023 debut.
Rodgers injured his left shoulder diving for a ball during a Cactus League game on March 6, and what was initially deemed a short-term injury — a dislocated shoulder — actually turned out to be a torn labrum. Rodgers needed surgery as a result, but worked hard to rehabilitate himself to come back in the second half.
The 26-year-old played 10 minor-league games as part of his rehab assignment, five with High-A Spokane and five with Triple-A Albuquerque. With the Isotopes, Rodgers hit .350 in 20 at-bats, with one homer.
Ahead of Monday’s series opener against the Padres at Coors Field, the Rockies also recalled utility Coco Montes from Triple-A. They now have 38 players on their 40-man roster.
